Evidence-Based Treatment

Our specialists use three powerful, research-backed approaches that work together to help you reclaim your life.

1

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)

Considered the gold standard for OCD, ERP involves gradually and safely confronting feared situations while resisting compulsive responses. Your brain learns the feared consequences don't actually occur — leading to lasting symptom reduction.

Gold Standard for OCD
2

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Rather than fighting against difficult thoughts and feelings, ACT helps you develop a new relationship with them. Accept what you can't control, commit to actions aligned with your values, and free up energy for what truly matters to you.

Values-Driven Recovery
3

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

Many people with OCD and anxiety are their own harshest critics. CFT helps you develop self-compassion and emotional regulation skills, breaking the cycle of shame and self-criticism that so often keeps these conditions going.

Common Questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most often.

How long does OCD/anxiety treatment take? +
Treatment length varies by individual, but many clients see significant improvement within 3–6 months of consistent weekly therapy. Some people continue longer for additional support or to address co-occurring issues. We'll give you an honest timeline estimate during your initial assessment.
Will I have to face my fears in therapy? +
Yes — but always gradually, safely, and at a pace you're comfortable with. ERP involves confronting fears in a controlled, supported way. You're always in control, and we'll work collaboratively to build an exposure hierarchy that feels challenging but manageable. Nothing is ever forced.
Can medication help alongside therapy? +
Medication can be helpful for some people, especially in combination with therapy. While we don't prescribe medication, we're happy to collaborate with your prescriber and help you understand how therapy and medication can work together most effectively.
What if my OCD or anxiety is really severe? +
We work with clients at all severity levels. If your symptoms are very severe, we may recommend more frequent sessions initially or coordinate care with other providers. Your safety and wellbeing are always our top priorities — we'll be upfront if we think a higher level of care would serve you better.
Do you offer virtual sessions? +
Yes! We offer virtual therapy across Ontario and in-person sessions on Dovercourt Rd. in Toronto. Virtual therapy is a highly effective format for OCD and anxiety treatment — the skills you learn transfer seamlessly to your daily life regardless of session format.
What's the difference between OCD and anxiety? +
OCD has distinct features including obsessions (intrusive, unwanted thoughts) and compulsions (repetitive behaviours or mental acts performed to reduce distress) which are often absent in anxiety disorders. While both involve significant distress, the treatment approach differs — which is exactly why specialist care matters. Our therapists are trained in the nuances of both.
